Effective 13 October 2026
Please read these terms carefully. They explain what you can expect from YZ-pay, what we expect from you, and the risks of using digital assets.
01About these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and YZ-pay (“YZ-pay”, “we”, “us”). They apply when you visit yzpay.io, create an account, or use any YZ-pay product — the personal app, the business dashboard, payment links, checkout, the YZ-pay API, POS terminals, virtual cards and gift cards (together, the “Services”).
By creating an account or using the Services you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use the Services for a business, you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf.
02Who can use YZ-pay
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract.
- You must not be located in, or a resident of, a country or region subject to comprehensive sanctions, and you must not be on any sanctions list.
- You may hold one personal account. Businesses may hold one account per registered business and invite team members to it.
- The information you give us must be true, complete and kept up to date.
03Your account and security
You are responsible for keeping your password, email account and transaction PIN private, and for everything done through your account. Withdrawals, card actions and purchases require your PIN; after five wrong attempts the PIN is locked for a period of time.
Tell us immediately at support@yzpay.io if you think someone else has access to your account. We will never ask for your password, PIN or one-time codes by email, phone or chat.
Business owners control who is on their team and what each role can do, and are responsible for the actions of their team members.
04Verification
To meet anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing obligations we may ask you to verify your identity (KYC) or your business (KYB), explain the source of funds, or provide further documents — at sign-up or at any time later. Some features, such as POS terminals and bank payouts, are only available after business verification.
We may limit, delay or refuse a transaction while a check is outstanding, or if we cannot verify the information you provide.
05Wallet, deposits and withdrawals
Your YZ-pay wallet lets you receive, hold and send supported digital assets. Each deposit address belongs to a specific coin and network. Sending a coin on a different network, or a coin we don’t support, can result in permanent loss. We will try to help but cannot guarantee recovery.
Deposits are credited once the network has confirmed them. Withdrawals are sent to the address you enter; blockchain transfers cannot be reversed, so check the address and network carefully. We are not responsible for funds sent to an incorrect address you provided.
Balances are digital assets, not bank deposits. They are not covered by any deposit insurance scheme and do not earn interest.
06Conversions
You can convert between supported coins at the live rate shown on the confirmation screen, less the conversion fee shown there. Rates move constantly; the amount you receive is fixed when you confirm. Minimum and maximum amounts apply and are shown in the app. Completed conversions cannot be undone.
07Virtual cards
Virtual cards are prepaid US-dollar cards for online payments, issued through our card-issuing partner and loaded from your YZ-pay balance. A card can only be used up to its loaded balance. Card issuance, top-up, decline and closure fees are shown in the app before you confirm.
Merchants may decline a card or place holds; repeated declined transactions may attract a fee after a free monthly allowance. When you delete a card, the remaining balance, less any cash-out fee, is returned to your YZ-pay balance. We may freeze or close a card used in breach of these Terms or the card network’s rules.
08Gift cards
Gift cards are bought from your balance and delivered by email to the recipient you choose. Orders are processed by our fulfilment partner and may take time to complete. If an order fails or is rejected, the amount you paid is returned to your balance. Once a gift card has been delivered it cannot be cancelled, refunded or exchanged, and it is subject to the brand’s own terms. Check the recipient’s email address carefully.
09Accepting payments (businesses)
Businesses can accept crypto payments through payment links, hosted checkout and the YZ-pay API. A payment is complete once the customer’s transfer is confirmed on-chain and appears as successful in your dashboard. Amounts received below the requested amount may be treated as underpaid.
You are responsible for the goods and services you sell, for your relationship with your customers, and for any refunds you agree to give them. You must keep your API keys and webhook secrets confidential, verify the signature of every webhook we send you, and not use the Services for any prohibited activity.
10POS terminals and naira payouts
Verified businesses can take in-person crypto payments with a POS terminal and receive the value in the POS’s local currency (Nigerian naira, Kenyan shilling, Ghanaian cedi or South African rand) in the bank or mobile money account set on that POS. The local-currency amount is fixed when the customer starts the payment and is shown before they pay. Payouts are sent after the payment is confirmed; bank processing times may vary. If a payout fails we will notify you and retry or return the funds. You must keep your bank details correct — we are not responsible for payouts to account details you provided.
11Fees
Our fees are shown in the app, the business dashboard or the checkout before you confirm a transaction. Network fees, where they apply, are included in the quote. We may change our fees; changes apply only to transactions made after the change is published.
12Risks of digital assets
- The value of digital assets can rise and fall sharply, including stablecoins, which can lose their peg.
- Blockchain transactions are irreversible and depend on networks we do not control, which can be congested, delayed or forked.
- Laws and regulations for digital assets are evolving and may affect the Services or your ability to use them.
- YZ-pay does not give investment, financial, legal or tax advice. You are responsible for any taxes on your transactions.
13Prohibited use
You must not use the Services to:
- launder money, finance terrorism, evade sanctions or commit fraud;
- buy or sell illegal goods or services, or anything that infringes someone else’s rights;
- run gambling, adult content or high-risk financial schemes without our written approval;
- attempt to access accounts or systems that aren’t yours, interfere with the Services, or test their security without our permission;
- create accounts with false information or on behalf of someone else without authority.
14Suspension and closure
We may suspend or restrict your account, hold funds, or refuse a transaction if we reasonably believe it is needed to comply with the law, protect you or others, or investigate a breach of these Terms. Where the law allows, we will tell you why.
You can close your account at any time by contacting us, after withdrawing your balance. We may close an account with reasonable notice, or immediately for a serious breach. Records are kept as described in our Privacy Policy.
15Our liability
We provide the Services with reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, losses caused by blockchain networks, third-party merchants or events outside our reasonable control, or losses caused by you not keeping your credentials safe.
Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
You agree to compensate us for losses we suffer because you breached these Terms or the law.
16Intellectual property
The YZ-pay name, logo, software and content belong to us or our licensors. We give you a limited, non-transferable right to use the Services for their intended purpose. Businesses may display the YZ-pay name only to show that they accept payments through us.
17Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for material changes, tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you continue to use the Services after that, you accept the updated Terms.
18Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you have a complaint, contact us first at support@yzpay.io — we aim to respond within five business days. Disputes we cannot resolve together will be referred to the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria, unless the law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
